What kind of equipment do I need to receive U.S. Television?
First and foremost, since your television service will be streamed over the Internet, you'll need a high speed Internet connection. A connection speed of at least 512kbps downstream is recommended for adequate viewing - anything less than this will cause noticeable degradation of image quality. Of course, the higher the connection speed, the better the picture, up to our 2.0 Mbps (2048kbps) highest output, but you can have a higher transfer rate from you ISP. Please see our system requirements page to see all the details.
General Questions
How does a2bTV work?
With a2bTV, our customers can watch their satellite TV service over the Internet – in real time, no matter where they are. Our customers subscribe to a satellite TV service, but instead of hanging a dish on the chimney and running cables through the walls, we host our customers' satellite equipment in a secure data center and provide bandwidth and other technology to automatically stream their satellite TV over the Internet.
Our customers are able to control their satellite receivers in real time by pointing and clicking on their on-screen remote, changing channels, ordering pay-per-view, and viewing show information and TV guide screens. It's the same as watching your favorite programming from your living room couch – except you can do it from anywhere using your PC.
How do I get started?
Simply contact us here. We will guide you through 2 simple steps: 1) sign up for a satellite TV service (this is what you will be watching) and 2) sign up for a2bTV (that's how you'll be able to watch it over the Internet!).
A2bTV is a service company that allows our customers to access their satellite TV service through the Internet. Because we do not have launch pads, rockets, or access to the Space Shuttle, we are not a satellite TV provider. You will have a direct relationship with your TV provider and are responsible for paying your bill and fulfilling the terms of your provider's user agreement. Then you sign up with us to view that satellite TV account over the Internet. Rest assured, dealing with our consultants is NOT like dealing with the cable company. A live person with answers to all of your questions will guide you every step of the way.
What kind of equipment will I need?
All you really need is a computer with an Internet connection. For detailed system requirements, click here. With a few cables, you can connect your computer to a TV.
When you sign up with a satellite TV provider, you are also buying or leasing a receiver, cables and other equipment from them. That equipment will be shipped to a2bTV's data center, where it will be hooked up, hosted, monitored and maintained as part of our service to you. It is that equipment that you will be remotely controlling through a2bTV!
By signing up for a2bTV, you will also be buying an IPTV converter for our service to work.
Should you terminate service, any leased equipment will be returned by us to your satellite TV provider. Any equipment you own can be shipped to you or we will buy it from you.
Users Agreements
Our customers have a one-on-one relationship with their satellite TV providers. As a hosting company, we do not have a user agreement or any other direct relationship to any satellite TV provider. All a2bTV customers are responsible for fulfilling the terms of the user agreements of any hardware manufacturer or TV service they purchase, as well as our user agreement.
Can I talk to someone about your services?
Of course! Our support and sales staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please see our ‘Contact’ page for information on reaching our office by phone or mail. For technical support email us at support@a2btv.com and for general information about how our service works, click a Live Chat button on the website to chat with a sales person, or email sales@a2btv.com.
Is there a demo connection available?
Yes. We have several demonstration streams available for you to see prior to purchasing. Please contact sales@a2btv.com for a personalized demonstration or fill out the demo request form on our website. In most cases we’ll need to call you via telephone for a demonstration.
Can I watch your service on a regular TV?
You sure can! There are several options available to you. Click Here to see a picture of how you connect to your TV. But here is the short version:
If you’re using a laptop that has a ‘S-Video’ connector on it, you can output directly from your laptop to your television. We’ve tested this on screens up to 40” and it looks great.
There are several video output options for desktop computers that work very well. Some even include remote controls!
Finally, if you have a laptop that does not have a S-Video connector, you can use this device.
Either way, you’ll be able to watch all the TV you want on your home (or work) television.
Click here to view how to get connected.
What is your DVR Concierge Service?
DVR Concierge allows you to automatically record programs of your choice on your DVR hosted by a2bTV. While many of our customers program their DVR using their own remote controls, sometimes that is not always a practical solution. We created the DVR Concierge service for those situations when you may not have time or be near a computer, but still want your favorite shows recorded. Simply call our DVR Concierge service at +1 626-628-9710 and select option #4. You can also email us at dvr@a2btv.com.
If I cancel, will I be penalized?
a2bTV has a one year service contract. Early cancellation fees apply. Cancellation within the first 12 months of service will incur a $199 cancellation charge.
Our preferred satellite partner also requires either a 12 or 24-month commitment in order to establish service. The early cancellation penalty is US $300.00 which is reduced pro-rated over the 12 or 24 month period. So, for example, if you cancelled your service in 12 months, you would be required to pay 50% of the cancellation fee, or $150.00.
Where is a2bTV based?
a2bTV is a Wyoming Corporation and based in the USA.
Can I share my login information with others?
Sharing your log-in information with others violates the a2bTV user agreement. Your service will be terminated if used for public display of your personal programming. If you would like to show others the benefits of a2bTV, please have them contact us for a demonstration.
You are permitted to install the playback software on multiple computers that you own. However you may only access the television stream on one computer at a time.

Can I order Pay Per View programming?
Yes. Many of our customers routinely enjoy PPV programming. Whether you want to enjoy a movie or a special event, you are able to do so. To place an order for PPV programming, you must visit your satellite provider's website and order your program there. Once you order the program, your receiver is instantly able to view the program. If you need assistance with this process, please contact our support department.
How long does it take to get setup?
Most new customers are set up within 72 hours. There's a bit of paperwork to complete, and once this is accomplished we can have you up very quickly. When you place an order on our website, you will receive a few agreements via email that we'll need you to sign and fax or email back to us. As soon as we receive your signed agreements, we'll forward your login information and you'll be enjoying American TV immediately.
How do I qualify for service?
Anyone can qualify for our service. We require upfront payment for your new equipment and for your first month of service. Our satellite provider requires that you provide a SSN to qualify for a new account. If you do not qualify with the satellite provider, or do not have an active U.S. credit profile, you will be required to make a $300 deposit when your service is activated. This deposit will be credited back to your satellite account at the rate of $10.00 per month over 30 months.
What is the ‘Total’ cost to me?
After you've paid the initial set up costs and purchased the necessary equipment, you will receive two invoices each month. One invoice comes from a2bTV that covers the cost of your hosting, DVR Concierge, customer service and bandwidth. This cost is either $49.00 or $99.00 per month based on the type of service you order.. You will also need to pay your satellite TV provider for the package of programs that you have purchased. Your satellite invoice varies based on your selected programming package and will range between $29.99 and $99.99 per month.
Why do I have to purchase all of this equipment?
In order to legally access your television package over the Internet, you are required to purchase your own receiving and transmission equipment. a2bTV monitors and maintains your equipment as part of its monthly hosting fee. All of the equipment either belongs to you or is leased directly to you in your name from our satellite TV provider. If you terminate service, your DVR is returned to the satellite TV provider. a2bTV will then either buy back your Slingbox from you or we will mail it to you for a $19.95 S&H fee.
What happens to my equipment if I cancel?
a2bTV will ship your transmission equipment to a U.S. address that you designate at no cost to you. If you need the equipment to be shipped internationally, we require that you provide us with a shipping account number. We also offer the option of a2bTV purchasing your equipment. Your satellite TV DVR will be returned directly to the provider by a2bTV which is required as part of your agreement with them. We also do this at no cost to you.
Can I see my equipment?
Due to security restrictions at our data centers, visitors are not allowed. As mentioned above, we will ship your equipment to you at your request.
Who provides your data connectivity?
Our data centers are linked to some of the biggest and best data providers in the world. We have direct fiber connections to XO communications, Level 3 Communications, Equinix, British Telecom, TeliaSonera, MCI, Qwest, 360 Networks and several others.
Do I have full control over the programming?
Your television programming is 100% in your hands. No one else can watch it, no one else can block you from it and you have full remote control of your satellite receiver. Using our DVR Concierge service, we’ll even program your DVR with your favorite programs - free of charge.
